CLARKSDALE, Miss., May 31, 2011 – The Mississippi River Levee in Coahoma, DeSoto and Tunica Counties will be open to light traffic of landowners and those with legitimate business in the area beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
Pasturage contractors may begin haying operations on the land side of the levee only.
“Our maintenance crews are busy working along the levee to clean up after this historic flood event,” said Kelly Greenwood, Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board chief engineer and CEO. “We ask that anyone who is not a pasturage contractor or landowner refrain from visiting the levee until further notice.”
